Ascendance

In this sculpture the traditional roles of man and woman are reversed, as the female figure is the one in the dominant position. She stands above the male figure, her skirt flowing around him as he is wrapped around her legs in an almost fetal position. It is unclear whether she is satisfied with her place above the man, if she is keeping him down, or if she is contemplating helping him up by reaching down to him.
